We provide fun and safe, adventurous and mindful activities in nature for all ages!
We run full day and half day sessions involving shelter building, campfires and wild cooking, forest bathing and wild mindfulness, foraging and wild animal tracking and wild swimming. Ideal for school holiday activities, birthdays, and team building.
We provide expedition training, including the National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS). We also provide Expedition, Supervision and Assessment, up to Gold level.
From our base in Middleton in Teesdale we guide visitors through local beauty spots such as High & Low Force, the Teesdale Way and the Pennine Way.
With years of experience working with people of all ages and needs, our mission is to connect you to this beautiful land and help you grow in skills, confidence and connection.
Our guide Gavin has long been an enthusiastic practitioner in the outdoors: exploring the Pennines and the upper Lakeland fells near his home in Teesdale as a boy; training with the Army at Sennybridge and the Brecon Beacons; gaining Mountain Leader status at the National Outdoor Centre in Plas-Y-Brenin; volunteering as a Coastguard in the Fort William Sector while living on the Isle of Rum; or leading Duke of Edinburgh expeditions in the Yorkshire Dales as a teacher. He is passionate about our countryside, protecting it, and protecting those who he teaches to enjoy it.
Gavin qualified as a Mountain Leader in 2011 and has had extensive experience of leading and caring for groups in the outdoors since then. He has worked as a walking guide on the Isle of Rum, whilst moonlighting as a Crofter, deer stalking ghillie and Coastguard Rescue Officer (amongst other things!). He has led Duke of Edinburgh groups and is a qualified as an Expedition Supervisor and Assessor. During term time Gavin works at a Specialist Academy in Teesside delivering Outdoor Skills Education.
Gavin is Rescue Emergency Care 1st Aid trained and has real life experience of assisting in emergency incidents and rescues as a Coastguard. He also delivers instruction in 1st Aid as part of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.
Gavin has held a clear Enhanced DBS since 2005 and is trained to Level 4 in Safeguarding Children & Vulnerable Adults. He has experience of working as a Designated Safeguarding Lead for a Special Education & Social Care trust.
